Katz Media PCI front

A custom "X-PCI" (bottom) to conventional PCI (top) riser card from a Pippin Expansion Unit by Katz Media.

A computer bus based on Peripheral Component Interconnect (also known as PCI) was used by Pippin consoles to attach proprietary expansion docks. This customized 120-pin connector was referred to as "X-PCI".[1][2]

A Pippin dock would typically contain a small PCI riser card to connect the bottom of the console to the peripherals contained within the dock, such as a floppy drive or ethernet port.[3][4]
