Super Marathon includes two complete games - the original Marathon as well as what is widely regarded as the best Marathon game ever released, Marathon 2: Durandal. This video is not taken from an emulator, but rather it is recorded with a Canopus video capture card and an actual Bandai Pippin with the Super Marathon game disc.
Follow the action from the first stage of Marathon 2: Durandal, as well as the first few minutes of the original Marathon for the Bandai Pippin. The original Marathon runs rather briskly, locking in at a very solid frame rate and sporting pretty good controls with the applejack controller. Marathon 2 also runs fairly nicely, with several options to raise or lower the graphics quality depending on what frame rate you wish to run at. For this video, the graphics quality was set high and therefore the frame rate isn't quite as nice as the one seen in the original Marathon portion later on in this video.
While the Pippin is dogged as one of the worst consoles to ever see a release, Bungie's Super Marathon is often held up as at least one example of a good game for the Apple-developed game system. Unfortunately, it is also one of the hardest Pippin games to find with auction prices falling north of several hundred dollars when one actually shows up.
I'll leave out my own opinions on how much I like the game, but as always, I invite you to make your own conclusions based on what you see in this video. Eventually, I'll post a review for the game on Die-Hard Gamer. Video courtesy of dhgHunter.
